Music video analysis- Stormzy

The music video "big for you boots" by Stormzy presents himself as a suburban man in the streets of London.

The narrative focuses on Stormzy showing he is still the same man that hasn't let fame get to him. There isn't a main narrative that flows through the song however there are many different locations including an alleyway, the inside of a pub, a chicken shop and in central London. these locations are al viewed as very British which is anchoring his main point that he grew up on these streets and is still linked to them.

There are many different social groups presented in Big For Your Boots. Gender is shown primarily as we see many women throughout the music video that go against the stereotype of being delicate and elegant by being part of these street gangs and are very tough for their young age. as well as this, race is also presented as there are many black and white people mixing together as well as 2 elder Asian men, showing how diverse London is as well as the music video as a whole. Classes are represented by having many working class members of society part of the music video with red and blue flashing lights, signifying that there is a lot of criminal activity in London and Stormzy has come from this background and has been raised by these people. tied to the criminality is the police force that are a large part of London. By the end there is a group of white, middle aged men "Geezers" that are surrounding Stormzy, showing his fearlessness against them by standing his ground.

Many characters are used throughout that include a range of ages as well as backgrounds to show his music can appeal to a wide range of people.
