After the completion of the music video, i have started to make notes on other types of websites and take elements from each to use on my own.
One example website that I have taken notes from is ELO's own website:
Upon opening the website, you are opened to a fairly empty home page, with clear indicators of the artists name, the social media links available and the route to switch pages.
This is seen in a variety of artists websites, where they either have their newest products on the main page (such as a new album) or an image of the artist themselves to show who the site is about.
Another example of this is Adele:
As suggested above, the famous Adele has her new music video advertised upon opening the website, but also a link to her merchandise below the main image.
In addition to the main page, another page has to be made for extra details. I have chosen to do an about page for the artist as I want to give more detail on the artists background to help the viewer paint a picture of the artist and get more of an idea of them.
What is interesting about Adele's website is that is has no other clear pages, it is all presented on one page with links to merch and social media platforms throughout the page.
Things to include:
To fit the genre of an upcoming artist, the website must have clear images of the artist himself to promote to new viewers to get an idea of who he is.
To do this, when opening the website the main image should be the artist possibly on the set of the music video to additionally promote the new song. This can be done through an original image or a still from the music video.
Following the examples, i am aiming to have a simplistic website that has very clear prompts to click on the about page of the social media platforms available (Instagram). These will be available throughout the website to increase viewer activity and make them more interested in the artist in addition to the song itself.
There has to be a link to the music video near the top of the home page as that is typically where an artist would be selling their song. As well as a message from the artist themselves telling the viewer to either buy and/or listen to their new song.
Possibly album cover could be created to put lower down the page to show they are experienced in making songs, with the new music video being their first proper release.
Behind the scenes shots and videos could be taken to show the process taken when making the music video but also for an element of comedy, allowing the viewer to see what the artist is like behind the camera.
